Monday's Musings Archives Monday Musings
Happy Monday, DGA~
Welcome to our brand new DGA website!!! We have been working with a great company, World Web Resources here in Georgetown. We have strived to completely revamp and update our look and the way we communicate with you, our members. We would love your feedback on the new site. We want you to check out the directory page (under For Members tab at the bottom of the page). This is where we will post information of our members. As we receive new and renewal memberships, this page will build in numbers. We believe this will not only highlight you, our members, but will also showcase to visitors to the site all that is available in Downtown Georgetown!
This is your first reminder about our kick-off meeting for 2010! We have changed the location for the New Year and will be meeting:
Thursday, January 28th
8:30-10:00AM
Amante’s Restaurant, 7th & Main Street
We have lots of new things to bring to your attention and hope you will make plans to join us.
The Palace Theatre is well into the presentation of their latest production, “Nunsense II, the Second Coming” which runs weekends through February 7th. This is a sequel to their wildly successful initial production of “Nunsense” in 2007. They have the same cast and it promises to be a wonderful evening of entertainment. Be sure to get your tickets. Visit their website for information and tickets: http://www.georgetownpalace.com/nowplaying.php.
The Williamson Museum has announced their new 2010 schedule. Check out their website for all the information on upcoming events: http://williamsonmuseum.org. If you have never explored the Museum, you are in for a treat. It holds a wealth of information about our area and is of special interest to your visitors to the area. We are always impressed with the outreach programs they offer. Are you aware how many school kids are exposed to downtown by way of walking tours and other hands-on events provided by the Museum? There are many days we see Mickie Ross out on the Square herding kids all around and talking about the history of our beautiful downtown. Kudos to Chris Dyer and his great staff for continually expanding the reach of this downtown treasure!!
Swirl around the Square from 6- 9 p.m. on Friday, February 12th! Our Georgetown Main Street Program is helping to sponsor the Georgetown Swirl, a new event they plan to present annually around downtown. This ticketed event will showcase a few of their sponsor retailers who are hosting a local restaurant and a Texas winery in their shop. The tagline for the Swirl is “Sip, Savor, Shop…” and they believe this event will introduce new visitors to Georgetown. Tickets are limited and available at the Visitor Center, Georgetown Winery and other locations in downtown. Check out the Main Street website for information: www.mainstreetgeorgetown.com.
Our friends at the Georgetown Animal Shelter are holding the 2nd annual Paws for Mardi Gras dog walk on Saturday, February 20 in San Gabriel Park. This is a great event for pets and their owners, and is a great way to help support their work in our community. For all the information on how to enter your pet or just come and enjoy the fun, check out their website: http://paws.georgetown.org
Thank you, and see you around downtown!
