Monday's Musings Archives Musings
Musings ~ May 25, 2010
Greetings, DGA and Friends of the Square~
REMINDER: This Thursday, 5/27 is the next DGA membership meeting:
8:30AM-10:00AM at Amante’s Restaurant
We have a couple of important agenda items, so we hope you will make plans to attend.
We have two more spots in the Community Impact to fill for June. Remember this is a great way to get your business information out there at a reasonable rate of $262.50/ad. And it includes a map of downtown that will indicate where your business is located. Please let us know if you are interested in being part of this month’s ad. The deadline for artwork is Friday, June 4th.
AN UPDATE ON THE WINERY INITIATIVE: John Marler and Karin Truxillo reported that the Board of Elections verified the initial petition's signatures, validated the printed notice to the public and ordered the signature petitions to be printed. As they requested expedited service, we were able to pick them up on 5/20! We sincerely appreciate the efforts of the Board of Elections to get these through so quickly. We started the petition drive last Saturday, 5/22. We are on our way!
The City has let us know that in June and July there will be various parking lots closed for a couple of days at a time for resealing. They will post signs and hand out flyers well in advance of the work. Be on the lookout for lots in your areas that will be affected.
If you have not seen the production at the Palace Theatre of “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” by all means plan to go! I treated an out of town guest to one of the performances, and then had to get two more tickets to take to my husband to see it! It is without a doubt the most entertaining production I have seen in a long time. I cannot recommend it highly enough. And they have just announced additional dates: 2:00 pm Sat. 5/29; 7:30 pm; Thurs. 6/3; 2:00 pm; and Sat. 6/5 continuing weekends through June 6 - Fri & Sat at 7:30 pm & Sun at 2:00 pm. Get tickets on line at www.thegeorgetownpalace.orgor by phone 512-869-7469. And be sure to check out the artist fundraiser for the Palace. Area artists have donated seventy (70) works of art to the Palace Theatre which are on display at the Framer’s Gallery. Tickets for drawings for the pieces are available until May 28th. Registrations for the Children’s Summer Workshops are in full swing! Your children ages 7 to 17 are sure to have a blast and broaden their horizons with a summer of theatre education! Sign up Onlineor call 512-868-3643!
