Thursday, April 22, 2010
Amante’s Restaurant
8:30-10:00AM
We will have lots of great information to share, including things you will need to know about the Red Poppy Festival. We hope you will make plans to join us. We will forward an agenda and minutes from last month on Wednesday with one more reminder. His & Hers Treasures is very excited about their weekly “wine and music” every Friday and Saturday evening from 7-10PM. They have created a great outdoor space behind their shop, and this has started to become a real draw among locals. Be sure to check this out. Julie and Bill would love to have you join them! Georgetown Winery sent an email about their live music every Friday and Saturday night 5-8PM. And of course, Landmark Tavern is open with live music until midnight (1AM Saturdays). Downtown is quite the place to be for live music. And in May, DGA will be launch the summer series of live music on the Square from 6-8PM each Friday night. You are invited to bring your family, lawn chairs and even a picnic and kick off the weekend in style! Some of our regulars have described these events as small town America at its best! Congratulations to Three Legged Willies on their grand opening last weekend. We know you will want to drop by to check out their menu and welcome them to the Square. They have created a really wonderful space for family friendly meals and evening adult gatherings. The Williamson Museum sent a notice that their Civil War Cemetery Tales tour is rescheduled for Saturday, May 1. The time is 4 pm to 6 pm and tickets are $10 per person. This self-guided tour allows visitors to learn stories from the Civil War era told by people who were there, played by costumed interpreters. The tour is held at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, (Behind Southwestern University) 701 Smith Creek Road. Tickets are on sale now at the Museum and at the cemetery on May 1st. There is another fun event on May 1st that will be supporting a great cause. The Chisholm Trail Elks Club is presenting a “Forever Land Festival” that will benefit their Children’s Medical Fund. Presented in San Gabriel Park from 9:30AM-5:00PM, the event will feature a kid’s play land, live music, all manner of festival food and over 100 vendors offering an array of treasures. For complete info: check out the website: www.goodieTWOshoesproductions.com, and look for the Forever Land Festival link.
See you around downtown~
