Musings
Date: Mar 23, 2010

Greetings, DGA!

This Thursday is our March DGA general membership meeting.  We really encourage you to make plans to attend.  There will be some very important presentations from the City on a variety of topics.  Mark Thomas, Director, Economic Development for the City will be our special guest and we have lots of fun news to share. As always, there will be open discussion time at the end of the meeting.  Here are the details:

Thursday, March 25 ~ 8:30 – 10:00 AM at Amante’s restaurant

Just received this note from the Williamson County Sun: We are currently working on the Guide.  For the first time ever we will mail to the entire mailing list that we own: 83,000 readers. This will be our biggest special section of the year.  Attached is the information on this Guide to Georgetown that will be published in June.  Be sure to check it out ~ great pricing for one of their signature pieces each year.

The Palace Theatre’s newest production, “Harvey” opens this weekend.  We received this note about a special promotion they are using to generate interest for the production:  “Where’s Harvey?  Lost your imaginary rabbit friend?  Look for him as you shop on and just-off the downtown Georgetown Square.  When you make your purchase, be sure to ask the merchant “Where’s Harvey?” or “Do you have Harvey?”  If the merchant is participating, you will be handed a coupon that indicates you’ve found Harvey!  The Palace prize you’ve won will also be shown on the coupon; follow the directions on the coupon for redeeming your prize at the Palace during the production of Mary Chase’s inventive play Harvey. Production dates for Harvey (four weekends) are March 26-28 and April 2-4, 9-11, and 16-18.

Thank you for helping us spread the word about our Citywide Garage Sale this Saturday March 27th.  We are getting more and more spaces filled, and feel it will be another good day for both sellers and treasure seekers alike!   If you want a space to sell your junque (that’s the next level up from “junk” which could be another person's treasure), be sure to make your reservation.  Spaces are only $35 for a 10’X10’ space. We can accept reservations through Thursday, 3/25 at the DGA office.

April 2 is our next First Friday and the theme is "Welcome Spring" in downtown Georgetown. Shops will be open from 6-8PM.  The Palace Theatre is highlighting their newest production of "Harvey," during the evening. (See note above)  Also check out the Williamson Museum where you can view and purchase the 2010 Red Poppy Festival poster.  You will be able to meet the artist and have your poster signed!

See you around downtown~
