Monday Musings
Date: Mar 15, 2010

Happy Monday, DGA!

Here is another reminder about our March DGA meeting.  We have some very important presentations from the City on a variety of topics.  We hope you will make your plans to attend, as there is great information that you will want to hear.  Mark Thomas, Director, Economic Development for the City will be our special guest.
Thursday, March 25 ~ 8:30 AM at Amante’s restaurant
We will send an agenda and minutes next week with one more reminder.

Last Saturday we had a great opening Market Days for 2010.  The weather cooperated and the crowds came.  The new concert series was a big hit.  All in all, we are off to a great start this year.  Our thanks to our coordinators Jenny Phillips and Stephanie Hill.  They are hard at work on the April market, and it promises to be even better.  Great job!

The Palace Theatre has announced an innovative promotion for their upcoming production of “Harvey.”  As you probably know, this is the story of a man and his invisible friend Harvey (a tall, oversized white rabbit).  The Palace is partnering with some of our merchants downtown and has printed business sized cards that will be offered to customers with a purchase.  Ads will tell customers to search for Harvey in downtown shops.  If they ask about it at a participating store, they will receive the card which is good for one of two offers: either a 2-for-1 ticket on 3/27 or 3/28 walk-up purchase or a free snack with ticket purchase.  The hope is that this will generate a buzz about the play and drive business to our shops!  The Palace staff will be coming around this week to the businesses to explain the offer and deliver cards.

Remember our spring Citywide Garage Sale is fast approaching on Saturday March 27th.  We have placed posters around downtown and have distributed post cards to many of our shops.  Thank you to all who have displayed them.  Thanks to the Williamson County Sun and Community Impact for their sponsorship with ads.  Now if the weather will just hold…

See you around downtown~
